In our last fittings and tools blog, we looked at three cable fittings and tools used to terminate custom cable assemblies, and today we will be looking at three more fittings. The three fittings we want to focus on are AN100 thimbles, threaded terminal studs, and malleable rope clips. Continue reading for an overview of these three fittings and tools.
AN100 Thimbles:
AN100 thimbles are used to form a sturdy eye end on control cable. These thimbles are commonly installed inside a loop and will protect the bearing surface where the cable mounts to a mating part. Sanlo carries AN100 thimbles in a range of sizes for cable diameters from 1/16" up to 1/4". Our AN100 thimbles are available in both plated and stainless-steel options.
Threaded Terminal Studs:
Threaded terminals attach a bolt to the end of a cable. These fittings can be used to mount an assembly through a mating part. Also, these threaded terminals allow you to tension the cable assembly after installation, making the terminals a very versatile fitting. One of the reasons our threaded terminals studs are becoming increasingly popular is that the cable's full breaking strength is achieved when properly installed. Another benefit of using threaded terminal studs as they are often pressed with a hex die, meaning that you have wrench flats to help with installation.
Malleable Rope Clips:
The purpose of wire rope clips is quite simple; they make thimble loops in wire rope and cable. Sanlo offers ropes in malleable iron, which provides the product additional strength and keeps ductility. Sanlo's malleable rope clips are available for a wide range of cable sizes, from cables sized 1/32" in diameter to 3/16". Malleable fittings are commonly used in light-duty and general-purpose applications.
