Three Fittings and Tools Products Offered at Sanlo

Cable end fittings and tools are the key components in helping terminate your custom cable assembly. There are numerous different fittings available for custom cable assemblies, and we wanted to provide some more insight into a few of the most used ones. We offer four standard fittings and tools: compression sleeves, stamped eye terminals, and stops. Continue reading for an overview of each of these four products.

Compression Sleeves:

When you are looking for a product that has been trusted for many years to terminate a cable assembly, choose compression sleeves. For proper installation of compression sleeves, a hand tool or machine press must be used. Compression sleeves are widely popular as when properly installed; the resulting loop will achieve the full breaking strength of the cable. At Sanlo, we recommend choosing compression sleeves that can be certified or designed around the high level of MS51844 specification.

Stamped Eye Terminal:

Stamped eye terminals are used to mount your customer cable assembly. The shape and design of these terminals are significant as the offset head allows you to mount the terminals to any flat surface. The pinhole through the head of the terminal is the size of standard fasteners, meaning that any bolt, screw, or rivet should fit through the hole. When buying stamped eye terminals that are machine pressed, the terminals will typically hold 75-80% of the cables breaking strength.

Stops:

If you need to terminate a cable assembly in one of the most economical methods, Sanlo recommends using stops. Stops can be swaged or pressed to a cable and, similar to stamped eye terminals, will commonly hold 75-80% of the breaking strength of the cable. While Sanlo swages or presses steel stops to a cable at our plant, we offer aluminum and copper versions that can be pressed in the field using a hand tool.
