How is a Gym Light Cage Made?

Previously we were attending the Design2Part Tradeshow and we had an interesting conversation with a customer who manufactures entertainment lighting clamps and hardware for concert venues and theaters. The customer wanted to begin producing lighting hardware for gyms and asked if we could provide cable for their Gym Light Cages. In today’s blog we are going to be talking about the process of working on these Gym Light Cages. Continue reading to learn more!

The purpose of the cages is to encase light fixtures in an assembly to offer protection. It is crucial to have these cages in areas such as gyms because equipment and sports equipment can often end up hitting ceilings and causing damage to lights without protection. The design called for 19 cable assemblies that would run horizontally along the unit and serve as the primary defense against projectiles.

Our cable would be integral to the system as it would take the brunt of impact, saving facilities hundreds of dollars in damage and light replacement costs. The project did pose some challenges as our customer had implemented some of their own elements to the product, such as their in-house custom-made turnbuckle style fittings. It was essential that our different components work together seamlessly.

After comparing samples, studying hardware, and collaborating extensively throughout this process, we were able to provide a successful solution for the Gym Light Cages that incorporated our cable into the application. Our customer was even able to release their first batch of new product within just a few weeks!
