From Customer Specs to Part, Fast

While attending the Design2Part Tradeshow, we were approached by a unique customer who manufactures entertainment lighting clamps and hardware for theaters and concert venues. They were looking to expand their business by producing lighting hardware for other types of public facilities, such as gymnasiums and churches. Accordingly, they asked if we could provide cable for their Gym Light Cages. We were happy to help, so we made a visit to their shop the next day to learn more about these cages, and better understand their needs and specifications.

The Gym Light Cages were engineered to protect industrial light fixtures by encasing them in an assembly that would not restrict their output. The design called for 19 cable assemblies that would run horizontally along the unit and serve as the primary defense against projectiles. This provided some key challenges, as our cable would take the brunt of impact, potentially saving facilities hundreds of dollars in damage and replacement costs. Not only that, our customer had already implemented some of their own elements to the product, such as their in-house custom-made turnbuckle style fittings. It was essential that our different components work together seamlessly.

After comparing samples, studying hardware, and collaborating extensively throughout this process, we were able to provide a successful solution for the Gym Light Cages that incorporated their both hardware and our cable. Our customer was even able to release their first batch of new product within just a few weeks.

We always enjoy partnering with customers on new and innovative projects like this one. If you have a manufacturing challenge that requires custom cable assemblies, rope and strand, or jacketed aircraft cable, contact us today.
