What does this mean for Sanlo Customers? 

The Buy American Act provides for preferential price treatment in federal contracts or projects funded by federal dollars for steel products Made in the USA by American Manufacturers. To qualify as an America Made product, the law stipulates that the final product must be manufactured in the United States and no less than 50% of the value of the product comes from American sources. In other words, for a wire rope or aircraft cable to comply with this requirement, it has to be stranded and closed in the USA, and that labor, plus any domestic components used (wire, hardware) must have a value greater than 50% of the total cost.

Hardware, fittings, extruded cable, and military specification cables can all be sourced for you, by us, and assembled here in Michigan City. It also saves you from needing to file an exemption from the Buy American Act because you either didn't know the requirements, or because the last company you sourced material through couldn't provide the proper documentation to certify to your requirements.  

What other American Made requirements can Sanlo Meet? 

• Domestic Wire Rope: In order to be called “domestic wire rope”, the rope must be stranded and closed in the USA, with components (wire) that may have been made outside of the USA. 

• Buy America/100% Domestic: When a requirement calls for 100% domestic, they are looking for wire rope product which is manufactured in the USA from components that are also manufactured in the USA—including the steel mill products of billet and rod used to make the wire.
  
  
• Mil-Spec: Mil-Spec standards are a set of product specifications established by the Department of Defense. These specifications dictate the requirements that wire, cable, or wire rope meet by manufacturers who are qualified to produce the product. A manufacturer interested in making a product to these specifications must be on the Qualified Producers List (QPL), as are several of the CWI wire and wire rope companies
