A Complete Guide to Sanlo Cable Fittings

Sanlo offers nine different hardware fittings to terminate cable assemblies. Our standard line of fittings is comparable to most offerings on the market today, and we also have the capability to manufacture custom hardware. Because each type of fitting provides a unique function, it is important to know which one is right for your specific application. compression-sleevesCompression Sleeves
Compression sleeves are one of the most common fittings used to terminate cable assemblies. Ours are manufactured around the MS51844 specification, suit cables ranging from 1/32” to 1/2". Available in copper, aluminum, and stainless steel, these compression sleeves, can be installed with either a machine press or a hand tool,

stamped-eye-terminalStamped Eye Terminals
Stamped eye terminals are a great way to mount cable assemblies because they are engineered with an offset head that allows them to sit against any flat surface. The pinholes are designed around standard fastener sizes, so you can use them with any bolt, screw, or rivet, making them a convenient choice for installations. When machine pressed, these stainless steel and zinc-plated steel fittings hold 75-80% of the cable’s breaking strength.

stopsStops
Stops are the easiest and most economical way to terminate a cable assembly due to their simple shape. They can be either swaged or pressed, and they achieve 75-80% of the cable’s breaking strength once they are installed. Available in zinc-plated steel, copper, and aluminum, the aluminum and copper versions can even be swaged by hand out in the field.

plain-ball-endsPlain Ball Ends
Sanlo plain ball fittings are a commercial version of the traditional BACT14B and NAS494 series. Their smooth, round shape makes them ideal any time you need to mate an assembly to a swiveling fitting, such as a clevis. Our plain ball ends are available in stainless steel, and suit cable diameters ranging from 1/32” to 3/16”.

single-shank-ball-endsSingle Shank Ball Ends
Like plain ball ends, single shank ball ends can easily rotate when attached to a clevis or strap fork. The shank adds protection to the cable, and also increases the holding strength of the fitting. When applied with our hydroforming process, ball shanks typically achieve at least 80% of the cable’s braking strength.

standard-carbon-steel-thimblesThimbles
We offer two different types of thimbles, a standard commercial carbon steel version, and an AN100 version. Thimbles are installed on the inside of a loop and they protect the bearing surface where the cable meets a mating part. Our AN100 thimbles meet AN100 specification, and our standard thimbles meet the dimensional requirements of FF-T-276B, Type II.

malleable-rope-clipsMalleable Rope clips
Malleable rope clips are used to make thimble loops in wire rope and cable. They are simple enough to be installed out in the field by adjusting the nuts on either side of the saddle. Our rope clips are available in malleable iron and are suitable for cable diameters ranging from 1/32” to 3/16”.

threaded-terminal-studsThreaded Terminal Studs
Threaded terminals are a clever way to attach virtually any bolt to the end of a cable. These can be used to mount an assembly through a mating part, and they allow you to tension the cable assembly once they are installed. When properly installed, these terminals achieve the full breaking strength of a cable.
